Expanding Student Internship Opportunities, UHW Perbanas Collaborates with East Java Entrepreneurs FORKAS
University of Hayam Wuruk Perbanas collaborated with the East Java Entrepreneurs Association Communication Forum (FORKAS) to collaborate on a student internship program. This activity is intended to expand students' opportunities to undergo work internships in a number of FORKAS member companies. This was conveyed by the Chancellor of the University of Hayam Wuruk Perbanas, Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Sc., after signing the Cooperation Agreement with the Chairperson of FORKAS East Java, Eddy Widjanarko at Atrium Maspion IT Square on Friday, (24/9).
Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Sc., said that the student internship program has actually been running for years at the UHW Perbanas Campus. This opportunity was taken in order to want to increase and expand the company's partners who can synergize with the campus. So far, UHW Perbanas students have undergone internships in various fields, ranging from banking, financial services, insurance, public accounting offices, and many others.
“In the future, there will be more and more opportunities for our student internships in choosing companies, especially companies that are members of FORKAS East Java. So, we are grateful to be able to establish this collaboration so that the competence and experience of our students can increase,” he explained.
He continued, the student internship program also received support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through the Merdeka Campus Program. “Now, student internships can be recognized for up to 20 credits. The duration of the internship program is up to 6 months,” he added.
Meanwhile, Eddy Widjanarko as the General Chair of FORKAS East Java emphasized that he had opened up opportunities for collaboration with universities in Surabaya. A total of 6 universities and 1 academy attended the signing of the cooperation along with Mass Vaccination at Maspion Square. The campuses are Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University, Bhayangkara University, Narotama University, FISIP UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Ciputra University and Widya Kartika University, as well as the Nation Stars Academy. “Our task is to synergize with universities, requiring trainings with industry in the forkas. Everything is of course good intentions and hopefully what we are doing is beneficial for the people of the city of Surabaya, "he concluded.
It should be noted that FORKAS East Java has 44 business association members. The members of FORKAS East Java include: Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry Association, Indonesian Association of Sawn Timber and Processed Timber, East Java Indonesian Shoe Association, Association of Indonesian Export Companies, Indonesian Bankers Association, Indonesian Interior Design Contractors, and others.
